See two things are either happening here.
He either a man of ideals and integrity, or a liar.
The first case is he due to little experience thought as president he could change everything and slowly finding out he can’t because the political system has a mind of its own and it ain’t wanting to go along with this crazy talk of change. So in order to keep his power for change, he has to play within the rules. The result? Working within a system that depends on business as usual transform well meaning people who want change into supporters of business as usual and Obama is its latest victim. The man who wanted bipartisanship slowly changed him into a partisanship leader.
The other one is he told people what they wanted to hear and never meant to follow up after wards.

I hear this sort of thing a lot form american people. “Does obama hate america” – “Is X American”. I think that because america is the richest single country in the world, the citizens are more likely to define themselves by their nationality.
To draw a contrast. Europe is the richest economic block in the world. The EU, if treated as a single federation (Which many economists and economic bodies already do) is the richest Federation that has ever existed. The EU has a GDP that is as high as the US and China combined. Also the EU is a smaller geographical area than both the US and China. BUT because the Citizens of the EU often don’t see themselves as citizens of the EU, they don’t fall foul of this sort of absurd nationalism. Instead they see themselves as people. Existentialism has a firm footing in europe. Nationalism has a bad history for europeans. That is why europeans are not bothered about their nationality as much as americans are. And no leader comes under scrutiny for being anti-french or Anti-british. That is because nationality has no intrinsic value or even common norm.
Instead you should ask the question “Is obama the best man for the job”. or “Is obama a competent leader”.. The American public is a melting pot. There is such a diverse amount of culture and ethic in america that to hate america is surely to hate all people and all things.
