Should Obama and McCain show up for the third party debates this Sunday? Why or why not?

23 Jul

Third-party presidential candidates finally will have their own debate: at 8 p.m. Sunday at Columbia University in New York.

The debate, which will be announced Wednesday, will include at least three of the four third-party candidates… Democratic nominee Barack Obama and Republican nominee John McCain are also invited.

If you are interested in watching the debates, I believe that C-Span will be airing them this Sunday (October 19, 2008) at 8pm.

His Divine Shadow – America is a Republic, not a Democracy – and people who support these candidates should have a right to see them debate.
Army Chick – Bob Barr and thousands of his supporters called the networks, and both campaigns (Democrats and Republicans) to get him included in the debates… however, the media ignored him.

Third Party candidates have tried for many years to be included. The fact is – they aren’t wanted. The two major parties have a vested interest in making sure their opinions remain “irrelevant”.

I think John should go, but Barrack should stay on the campaign trail.

Always the highlight of any presidential election. The prospect of Cynthia McKinney mixing it up with Chuck Baldwin is definitely Must See TV.

It is just too bad that John Hagelin and the Natural Law Party are no more. He was a riot!

I don’t think either mainstream candidate should legitimize these losers. And this is coming from someone who is VERY dissatisfied with both Barack Obama and John McCain.

Bottom line, a forum shouldn’t be given to people who don’t have a prayer – it is actually harmful to democracy. There is a reason why even the primary debates have standards of support for who they choose to allow on their platforms (e.g. 10% support rating or higher).

McCain is senile and his running mate is a GD cracker redneck with her family included. Rednecks should all be rounded up and put in temporary holding pens until we find a solution for them.

I think it would be a very respectful thing for the two main candidates to do. but it will not impact my vote one way or another. I have made my decision and will not change my mind.

Thanks for the info. I’d say it’s not a good idea for Barack to go because McCain will accuse him of having their ideas. As for McCain, it doesn’t matter if he goes or not.

I for one have heard all their blah blah blah, now I want to hear how they plan to do what they say we need to do.

How will each candidate make it happen? They still have to go through the senate and the house so how will they fulfill their plans? Or is it only allot of what they think people want to hear?

Thank you for the info. yes I think they should show up, American citizens can finally watch a real debate with real answers to our current issues.
Edit: Ron Paul is on the ballot in louisiana and Montana, although he indorses Chuck Baldwin, either way if enough people speak out the electoral vote will not give either McCain or Obama enough votes, then congress will decide whos president. ‘We the people” still have a chance if we can wake up enough sheeple.

Any serious third party candidate should have shown up at the other debates and demand to be included. That’s where all the publicity went to, and the most people watching.

    No guts – no glory!
