Hannity’s latest rant on the Gates/Crowley situation is that Obama hates white people. But, according to Sean, didn’t Obama start his political career in the very white Bill Ayers’s living room?
Was Bill Ayers prominent in community or party leadership? Did he have resources to help Obama run? Why would Obama rely on any advice Ayers’ would have to offer? Why does Ayers and the Weathermen Underground believe in using violence?

Sean Hannity has been pounding the Obam Ayers connection for months and now Sara Palin has joined the chorus aswe get into the real mud-slining days of the presidential campaign. Sarah Palin on Saturday accused Democrat Barack Obama of “palling around with terrorists” because of his association with a former 1960s radical, stepping up the campaign’s effort to portray Obama as unacceptable to American voters.
So who is this terrorist Ayers and is he in jail somewhere?
actually, Ayers is an American elementary education theorist. Say what? He was a former leading 1960s militant. Millions were! Tens of millions hated and protested the Viet Nam war. Ayers is known for the radical nature of his activism in the 1960s and 1970s, as well as his current work in education reform, curriculum and instruction.
In 1969 he cofounded the violent radical left organization Weatherman, which was active during the 1960s and 1970s. He is now a professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, holding the honor of Distinguished Professor. Distinguished professor and a terrorist?
Palin’s reference was to Bill Ayers, one of the founders of the group the Weather Underground is meant to tie Obama’s Muslim sounding name to radical anything. Members of the Weatherman took credit for bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol, during the tumultuous Vietnam War era four decades ago. Obama, who was a child when the group was active, served on a charity board with Ayers several years ago and has denounced his radical views and activities.
“How will you live your life so that it doesn’t make a mockery of your values?” Ayers later wrote in his memoir, Fugitive Days, that his reaction was: “You could not be a moral person with the means to act, and stand still. To stand still was to choose indifference. Indifference was the opposite of moral” So, in 1965, Ayers joined a picket line protesting an Ann Arbor, Michigan, pizzeria for refusing to seat African Americans. His first arrest came for a sit-in at a local draft board, resulting in 10 days in jail.
Ayers currently lives in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, the same neighborhood that Barack Obama lives in and from there one can draw all sorts of conclusions, will, and have. But this I know, almost all of us have done crazy things in our life, especially our youth, that we wished we had not. Life is not so much of where we started or the journey and route we took, but the place to which we now stand.
Distinguished professor isn’t all that bad in my book.
As I was headed to a funeral today I got to hear a little El Rushbo on the way to the funeral and a little Sean Hannity on the way back from the funeral. You’ll never guess who both were talking about. Wait! Maybe you would. Does the name William Ayers or the Weather Underground ring a bell? I bet it does. Well it seems that there are at least, 3,000 people who have confessed that he’s really not the antiChrist. Can we trust them?
More than 3,200 supporters — most of them educators — have signed a petition protesting what they say is the “demonization of Professor William Ayers,” asserting that his violent actions as the co-founder of the Weather Underground were just “history.” History? Yep it was that and not just a little blip on the radar screen. This was a radical group- dangerous, very dangerous! Anti American. Against the Viet Nam war, etc.
They, and he did commit the unpardonable sin, right?
The petition, circulated online, asserts that Ayers is a well-respected, nationally-known figure in the education world, and critics who call him an “unrepentant terrorist” and “lunatic leftist” are “part of a pattern of ‘exposes’ and assaults designed to intimidate free thinking and stifle critical dialogue.” It is unclear who wrote the petition; its first signatory, Professor Gloria Ladson-Billings of the University of Wisconsin, could not be reached for comment.
Gloria J. Ladson-Billings is an American pedagogical philosopher, author, scholar, and teacher educator, and is on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education. “It’s true that Professor Ayers participated passionately in the civil rights and antiwar movements of the 1960s, as did hundreds of thousands of Americans. His participation in political activity 40 years ago is history; what is most relevant now is his continued engagement in progressive causes, and his exemplary contribution — including publishing 16 books — to the field of education,” it reads.
Sixteen books?
Okay, so there are 3,000+ loons out there. What’s the point?
The point is Obama’s refusing to elaborate on the extent of his relationship with Ayers and for claiming to have had no idea Ayers was involved with Weather Underground when the two served together on two education boards in Chicago. The Obama campaign has noted that the Democratic presidential candidate was 8-years-old when Ayers and the Weather Underground were active, and that Obama has no link to their activities.
So, is Obama “palling around with terrorists” or not. That’s what we want to know. Let’s give Ayers the benefit of not being the AntiChrist- but could Obama be him?
