Why did the NBC moderators devote so much time in the Las Vegas debate to racism?
It seems the moderators had their own agenda, and Brian admitted his sponsors expected him to raise the race “issue”. Race is not an issue among democratics; in fact the issue came up as a result of a comment by one prominent African American (Mr. Johnson) about another prominent African American (Senator Obama). How is that racism? I don’t think race is an issue among democratics, but I wonder if chauvanism is an issue among members of the press.
Who is looking forward to a head to head debate between Obama and McCain?
I can’t wait. Clinton could hold her own with Obama, I don’t know maybe it’s the legal background that they both have. But I really worry about McCain.
What happened to Kucinich’s appeal to get in the debate tonight in Las Vegas?
I’ve been checking. But so far it looks like it’s only the Sexy 3 (Clinton, Obama and Edwards). So this means that NBC’s emergency appeal to the Nev. State Supreme Court overturned his original order? If yes, what’s next? Also, if you have any good links on this please post them. Thanks.
What were 5 important things that Obama and McCain each said in the presidential debate?
what were 5 important things that McCain and Obama said on the presidential debate…weather about the government, world, war, etc etc? By the way who won?
Can someone please help me with my introduction for my debate paper? Its on the McCain-Obama debate?
I have the hardest time coming up with my introduction paragraphs. Lol. But anyway, my debate paper is supposed to be on the Obama-McCain debate in Oxford, Mississippi and i plan on going through and telling the highlights about what went on, then conclude with who i think won… but.. i just don’t know how to start it
Please help me.
What is your opinion on the presidential debate between Obama and McCain?
Obama wants to tax big oil companies, find safer ways to store nuclear waste and generate nuclear power, help auto manufactures create hybrid cars and give tax credits to those who purchase hybrids. John McCain will not tax big oil companies, believes nuclear energy is already safe and that we should build 45 more nuclear reactors in the U.S. He is willing to give $300 million to auto manufactures to create different types of hybrid cars, and will give tax credits toward renewable energy, and wants to sit down with other political leaders to set limits on carbon emissions by corporations. WHAT DO YOU THINK??
Do you hope McCain brings up Ayers and Obama’s Birth Certificate in this debate?
I hope he mentions both so Obama can shoot him down…
Seriously how would Obama get this far, to be the Senator of the United States, Without providing and legal birth certificate and a Valid Social Security Number???
When Obama and McCain finally debate what will each say about the economy?
Try to be better than obvious. Obvious: Obama-moderate spending, savings from withdrawal from Iraq blah blah. McCain: he’s a tax and spender, I’m the conservative blah blah.
Why is Sharpton and Jesse so quiet on the healthcare debate?
You’d think they’d be out there playing the race card for Obama, but thier not. It just looks ridiculous when white liberals are the only ones screaming that being anti-Obama is racist..
How Can There Be a Fair Debate About Healthcare When the Most Popular Model Is Eliminated From the Discussion?
While the President said every idea must be considered, the idea of creating a single-payer national health insurance program has already been rejected. White House spokesperson Robert Gibbs said Thursday, “The President doesn’t believe that’s the best way to achieve the goal of cutting costs and increasing access.”
Initially, no supporters of single payer were invited to the summit. After protests were called, the White House invited Democratic Congressman John Conyers and the president of the Physicians for a National Health Program.
Major newspaper, broadcast and cable stories mentioning healthcare reform in the week leading up to President Barack Obama’s March 5 healthcare summit rarely mentioned the idea of a single-payer national health insurance program, according to a new FAIR study. And advocates of such a system–two of whom participated in yesterday’s summit–were almost entirely shut out, FAIR found.
Single-payer–a model in which healthcare delivery would remain largely private, but would be paid for by a single federal health insurance fund (much like Medicare provides for seniors, and comparable to Canada’s current system)–polls well with the public, who preferred it two-to-one over a privatized system in a recent survey (New York Times/CBS, 1/11-15/09). But a media consumer in the week leading up to the summit was more likely to read about single-payer from the hostile perspective of conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer than see an op-ed by a single-payer advocate in a major U.S. newspaper.
Over the past week, hundreds of stories in major newspapers and on NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, NPR and PBS’s NewsHour With Jim Lehrer mentioned healthcare reform, according to a search of the Nexis database (2/25/09-3/4/09). Yet all but 18 of these stories made no mention of “single-payer” (or synonyms commonly used by its proponents, such as “Medicare for all,” or the proposed single-payer bill, H.R. 676), and only five included the views of advocates of single-payer–none of which appeared on television.

ULTRA…I’d rather pay more in Taxes and have full coverage than the way it has been: I Pay Premiums, Co-Pays, Deductables and Co-Insuranceand the Insurance Company can still Deny Coverage so they will earn more Profits.
Anthem Blue Cross has paid Millions in fines for for rescinding Insurance Coverage & dropping members after patients filed Claims.

Boss…sorry there’s a difference between giving funding for patients to “buy Insurance” and fully covering all citizens as is done in Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and the United Kingdom…

What is your opinion of tort reform and the healthcare debate?
I am a physician, and an independent. I like Obama, want him to do well, and think he is an honorable man. However, dodging tort reform shows us he is still just another politician and not the diety so many want to believe. Please read:
http://aspe.hhs.gov/daltcp/reports/litrefm.pdf
and tell me how he/the Dems/etc. could possibly not put tort reform at the forefront of the debate. There is no justifiable logic I am aware of. This report is not from doctors or lawyers, but unbiased (as far as I know) policy minded individuals. It breaks my heart to see people suffering every day because of this healthcare mess, but until our leaders quit playing political one-ups-manship and start leading, by taking this issue seriously, it will only get worse, IMHO.
Is Obama a political genius (7 steps ahead) or losing badly in the healthcare debate?
After indicating that the public option was not a critical component of healthcare overhaul, Obama seems to have set him self up for huge success or massive failure.
Did he say this knowing full well he didn’t intend to sign a bill without a public option, and simply wanted to light a fire under the left??
OR
Is he all over the map on his healthcare message and slowly unraveling??
