A flurry of deals has unfolded that could give employees a 55 percent stake in the company, with Italian automaker Fiat eventually holding 35 percent, and the government and Chrysler’s lenders owning 10 percent.
I was turned down for medical insurance- it’s a private HMO- can they turn people down for any reason?

I have been with Kaiser insurance for more than fifteen years now. I was insured through my mother’s employer. Being that I am 31 years old, I understand that they normally cut off adult children being covered at the age of 18 (unless the child is in college). However, I had been covered by Kaiser Permanente up until around November of 2005. I had had coverage since I was around the age of 15. But now, they have cancelled my coverage. Before, when asked why, they didn’t provide a clear answer as to why they revoked my coverage. But now, they are saying that it is due to my obesity and high blood pressure. I have basically stayed the same weight all these years. Since the age of 15, I have probably gained about 30 or 40 lbs. Can they legally do this to me? I am very angry that they refuse to allow me to have health insurance now, on the premise that I am “obese” and I have HBP. I am five foot ten, and weigh around 270. It’s not like I weigh 800 lbs.- sheesh! What can I do?
Can I sue this insurance company for discrimination? Or, are they allowed to do whatever they please? Are they permitted to discriminate against people for any reason they want to? Where is the fairness in that?
I am also disabled, due to OCD (obsessive/compulsive disorder), and I am also a full time student, and I am a dependant under my Mom. Shouldn’t Kaiser allow me to have insurance coverage? I mean, I need the insurance now all the more, since I have hypertension. I desperately need my blood pressure medicine, and I need to see a doctor. It makes me very angry that this company has done this to me, when we have been loyal customers for so many years! We have paid very high premiums for our healthcare. You would think that this company would treat their patients with more concern and compassion.
Is the health care reform bill in it’s present form “dead”?

With the election of Brown as the new Senator, and more importantly the fear that this has caused among incumbent democratic Senators and Congressmen about this November essentially ended this health care reform bill?
And why are the Democrats trying everything they can including bribing a Nebraska Senator to push this bill through so quickly? Shouldn’t they think this through a little more as it’s going to cost so much money?
Do you believe the Nat’l Enquirer’s report about Obama cheating on his wife? It’s not like they were right?

President Obama used the first few months to blame every and any problem he had on his predecessor, but he quickly found out that this is not something he could do forever. Has he now focused his attention on the one news organization that has not crowned him the Messiah?
Will the anti-universal healthcare people at least admit it’s all about MONEY for them, not people?

The only arguments..money. It affects ME. It taxes ME.
Well as far as I uderstand, everybody would be required to participate…so it wouldn’t be just you. You pay into a healthcare plan anyway, now.
So, it’s all about the MONEY, no care at all about actual lives.
I have worked since I was 16. I work now and thank God my job comes with health insurance.
I know others who don’t have this luxury, though no fault of their own.

What do you know of “socialist” countries? Do you know that Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Finalnd, Norway have universal healthcare? Are they socialist?

I can’t think of any other reason why they’d rush this garbage through and do it in the manner they’re doing it in (i.e. closed door deals, favors for states who’s Congressmen sign on to the bill, etc.). Do they really think it’s going to get them votes in the coming election?
Do you think people hate Obama just because it’s fun to conform against someone?

I’ve been in this section awhile and it just seems that everyone hates the dude.
Seems weird, the republican candidate should be the one everyone is hating considering his policies are consistent with Bush’s, who’s approval rating is 30%.
Perhaps there are young people who may not now about each candidates political platforms and just chose to hate and disagree with Obama because it seems like everyone else is?
A lot of these answers really have no substance against Obama, they just attack his by calling him a liar or a cheat without anything to back it up. Is this just merely psychological? If not, explain with substance.
Aren’t Democrats going to have to “sell” this healthcare bill better than this?? It’s a “bill that can pass”?

So the House and Senate have demonstrated over the last 12 months that they are full of corporate whores.
Democrats (PROGRESSIVE Democrats) are saying the primary redeeming feature of this bill is that it can pass thru a chamber filled with corporate whores. After this bill passes THEN Democrats are going to “reform” the healthcare system I assume……WTF??
This doesn’t seem very convincing……what do you think??
They talk about all the concessions they made and can’t name any real benefits.

Congressional progressives have had to swallow a number of hard health care concessions over the last several months. Just today, an agreement was reached between the Obama administration and Labor to largely preserve an excise tax on expensive health insurance policies, opposed by the overwhelming majority of House members, that could impact middle class Americans. But nonetheless one of the leading progressives in the House says both chambers are ready to pass reform.
“I heard that we’re very close to a final decision, that we will be having a bill soon, and it’s not going to have everything anybody wants in it, but it will be a bill that can pass the House and the Senate and it will be a start for health care reform in the United States of America,” Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA)–co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told me in an interview this evening. “It is moving ahead. [Obama is] very committed to having a health care bill that will be good for America.”
