In what ways would the neocons criticize Obama if he was just sitting on his hands waiting for Jan 20th?

All I hear right now is whining by the neocons over his cabinet appointments, press conferences, and his gearing up to take over on January 20th.

So if Obama was just sitting on his hands allowing Bush & Co. to dig themselves deeper into the hole they’ve dug, would they be criticizing Obama for not doing anything?

Would it be better if Barack Obama just resigned, for that matter could Nancy Pelosi also resign too please?
Would it be better for Obama & Clinton to agree to stop campaigning now, and equally just go after McCain?
I just finished Reading “The Audacity of Hope” by Barack Obama. What other books would you recommend?
What would you think about Clinton or Obama if either of them dont accept a vp position?

Healthcare

Obama’s plan says he will “Work with employers to supply healthcare” as long as employers pay a “meaningful” portion of the premiums. “Meaningful portion” What does that mean? It means it’s not going to happen. If he could legislate that employers provide insurance under those conditions, the number of businesses closing under the financial pressure would cripple our economy.

The inevitable consequences of socialized medicine.

We will see the rise of privately run clinics owned by Physicians that treat the wealthy and the privately insured. These places will charge more, pay Doctors more, and have the latest advances in equipment. These clinics will attract the smartest and most talented doctors and surgeons from our “free” hospitals. If you have Government insurance, you will never see them.

Yes, there are problems with our medical system, but in an emergency you will be seen and treated properly with or without a nickel in your pocket. You will be expected to pay, but why shouldn’t you? More to the point, why should I pay for you?

Socialized medicine will give you’re a free liver transplant or cancer treatment, if you live long enough while waiting your turn.

Making the Medical system paperless? That would require the authoring of a web based software package in many different versions that would speak to the many different disciplines in the medical field so as not to share or needlessly replicate sensitive medical information. Most Americans are afraid to shop online and now we are going to ask them to supply all their personal information to a Government run database with literally 10’s of thousands of user names and passwords distributed throughout the medical community?

The following is a paragraph from a Washington Post article titled “VA Takes the Lead in Paperless Care”.

“Since 1999, the VA’s 155 hospitals, 881 clinics, 135 nursing homes and 45 rehabilitation centers have been linked by a universal medical records network. It allows any authorized person to look at 5.3 million patients’ records — everything from a nurse’s note written during a hospital stay, to the result of a blood test drawn at a clinic visit, to the moving-picture film of a coronary angiogram done in a cardiology lab.”

Any “Authorized” person, or hacker! Is this the place you want the records for your last PAP smear? AIDS test? STD treatment? Phyc exam? Think your information is safe from disgruntled employees? From hackers? Forever? You will have no choice but participate.

“Stop giving tax breaks to companies that ship our jobs overseas”. Like it or not we are competing in a global economy. To stay competitive companies must lower their costs. Unfortunately that means finding less expensive work forces, less restrictive controls, and lower tax rates. Giving tax breaks does not cause companies to ship jobs overseas; it is encouragement to keep them here!

If you vote for one over the other because you “like” one candidate or “hate” the other instead of voting the issues, you do us all an extreme disservice. You should not be allowed to vote.

Dislike Bush? Me too. I also hate hitting my foot with a hammer but that does not mean hitting my head instead is the answer!

All that being said, does McCain have all, or any of the answers? Maybe. Maybe not. The point is Obama’s plans will hurt this country.

Before Iraq, when every Congress member and US Senator were convinced (through lies, miscommunication, or arrant information) O’bama says he was against the war, I would like to know one thing. What information did this Junior State Senator from Illinois know that the entire US Senate & House did not know and how did he know it? What did this man that wants to be our President base his decision on?

Will Bush Attack Pakistan just to beat Obama to the Punch / cheat Obama out of the chance to attack someone?

My two brothers and I identify as biracial, because we love and have respect for both our parents, unlike Obama. I am not white, and I am not black. I don’t want to be seen as white, and I don’t want to be seen as black. I am of two races, and that is how I identify myself.

I want to start off by being honest and saying I don’t know who I’m voting for and don’t feel like I’ve educated myself enough yet on the candidates to pick one or the other. So the following is just purely observation…

but it seems like among young people (recent high school grads that are new voters and college students) supporting barack obama is almost a fashion statement. It sort of reminds me of student body president elections in high school where people tried to follow and represent whoever was the “cool/popular” candidate. I see girls especially (and as stereotypical as this sounds, don’t look like the type of girls who would normally give two craps about politics or even know who is currently president) walking around campus wearing fashionable (probably even designer, haha) “Barack the vote” t-shirts or even shirts with a rasta farian barack obama head in the middle.
i’m sorry, but i really can’t imagine 4 years ago that these same type of girls be walking around campus, proudly repping the face of say, Al Gore on their T shirts. and a lot of these girls are repping obama with a little heart by his name in their facebook and myspace profiles as well, lol.

i actually saw one of these sorority girls embarassed in class the other day when a guy sitting by her asked her what she liked about obama and her response was, “well… he’s like all about change.” and he proceeded to ask her “what kind of change do you think he’ll bring? What ideas of his do you like the best” and she looked like a deer caught in headlights and turned bright red and said, “i don’t really have a favorite… i just like the whole change thingy”

so, not to my QUESTION…
does anyone else notice this? I am all about young people going to the polls and voting and having a voice… but to me it seems worse to have young people voting based on what everyone else is doing or what is the “cool” or the “trendy” person to vote for than have them not vote.
oh, and i don’t want to offend any obama supporters that actually DO know what they like about him and actually ARE educated.

Home insurance covers big events, like fires, theft, etc. It doesn’t cover replacing every light bulb. Shouldn’t health insurance be the same way?

I have health insurance now that costs me quite a bit per month. Since companies can no longer deny due to pre-existing conditions can I drop my insurance and then just get it again if I get sick and need it? Who in their right mind wouldn’t do that? It’s like only buying housing insurance when you have a fire or car insurance after an accident – so much cheaper. It seems almost like they didn’t think about that when they wrote the bill.

In the ongoing assault on history, Obama will be sworn in with Lincoln’s Bible. I guess it’s supposed to be symbolic of change and liberation. It’s laugh out loud funny that this happened to me, Lincoln hated blacks!

“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races – that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the ***** should be denied everything.”

The cause of the civil war was 11 states wanted to seceed from the US and thier reasons had nothing to do with slavery. In fact, the original US constitution stated they had legal right to leave. Lincoln wouldn’t allow it and declared them traitors and went to war. In order to be in a stronger position Lincoln needed to raise troops. He offered blacks freedom in exchange for thier loyalty and help with soldiering:

“I thought that in your struggle for the Union, to whatever extent the negroes should cease helping the enemy, to that extent it weakened the enemy in his resistance to you. Do you think differently? I thought that whatever negroes can be got to do as soldiers, leaves just so much less for white soldiers to do, in saving the Union. Does it appear otherwise to you? But negroes, like other people, act upon motives. Why should they do any thing for us, if we will do nothing for them? If they stake their lives for us, they must be prompted by the strongest motive—even the promise of freedom. And the promise being made, must be kept.”

“If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it….”

So what we can see here is that Lincoln didn’t have any desire to free slaves, only to keep his grip on power.

In the aftermath of the Civil War, Lincoln became an advocate of the Aamerican Colonization Society, a group dedicated to trying to ship all the blacks back to Africa because they didn’t want them if they weren’t going to be slaves. The ACS is actually responsible for founding the first African nation Liberia. About 30,000 former slaves were shipped to Liberia mainly from Maryland. Today in in Liberia there are restuarants that serve “Maryland Style Fried Chicken”.

Question is do you believe the pop version of history is propoganda or is he actually not informed? I find it hard to believe some advisor didn’t mention this to him. Do you think this kind of propoganda is a good thing for America?

The price tag for the current health care proposal is $900 billion over 10 years. That works out to an average of 90 billion a year. The main objective of the proposal (presumably) is to provide coverage for the 45 million Americans who currently do not have health insurance.

So… a quick look at the math:

90,000,000,000 / 45,000,000 = 2,000

That comes out to just over $166 per month per uninsured individual.

By comparison, I pay around $200 per month through my group medical insurance at work for my family of four and that includes a prescription drug plan.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper and more efficient to just purchase private insurance through a large group plan for all 45 million of the currently uninsured?

What am I missing here?

McCain-if he wins obviously I think he will just serve one term.
But Obama: If he can’t keep his promises, and the economy doesn’t turn around as quickly as we’d think, he’d take some of the blame. But I think that he will serve two terms if elected.
