I support Obama because he opens the door to change. But American really needs a viable 3rd party. A possible party platform (that I’d surely support) would be:
* Universal Healthcare
* Dialog with Cuba, etc
* Tougher punishment for rouge politicians, CEOs and Cops
* Anti abortion (in most cases, except optional abortions in cases of rape and drastic physical abnormalities)
* Pro Gun Control
* Pro Gay Marriage
* Anti racism
* Pro elderly rights
* Diversity in America’s “allies, more Africans, and 3rd world
* Environment before Capitalism
* Peace before Capitalism
* Student rights before teacher rights
The children of the world deserve a more loving, environmentally friendly world. And since, at present, America is the world power, it’s up to us to set the tone for humanity. Right now I don’t see a party that will make the changes we need. But I do believe the Obama (not necessarily the Democratic party) will be the opening to change, and the next generations, if given a fair shake, will save the world!
Is there a party in America that is close to the platform I mentioned above??
* Immigrant friendly
* Strengthening of American small business sector
* Improvement of American products and services
Conclusion: The open door policies, free market (at any expense), Top down/trickle down economies simply DO NOT WORK for the average person. The TOP/DOWN strategy is like putting two people in a ring, one a martial artist that weighs 200 pounds and is the champion, and a young 4 year old child; fighting in the same ring.
