I’ve heard the claim that the inflammatory clips of Jeremiah Wright were taken out of context. Yet rather than saying so, Obama condemned his former pastor’s statements. Now I understand the political reasons for this, but that raises questions.
Is Obama sincere in his condemnation? Does he believe Wright’s message in context? In speaking candidly about race and the Reverend, should he not have defended him against scurrilous attacks based on sound bites, if those sound bites did not represent Wrights views?
