I just lost a friend of 2 years because she found out I voted for Obama. Her husband is in the airforce and she told me I voted for a man that would screw her family up! Is that not ridiculous or what!? I am so confused. This came out of no where from her!

There was a question the other day from a military wife who asked if Obama was going to “punish the military”. She obviously listened to some rumor from the right wing and believed it without checking. More than fifty percent of the military donated to Obama’s campaign, so not all of them believed that. Other reasons for hating him include his race, his education, or his political policies, although most people who hate him for his policies have never checked to see what they actually are. All of these people will see with time that he wasn’t something to be scared of after all.

The United States has never had a female, or a “black” president before. Barack Obama is african american, and people do not think that african americans have the right to come up in “american” land and run it. yes, it is because he is black and if your friend is going to dump your friendship because of who you beleived should run the country, then obviously she wasnt worth being friends with. but there is nothing wrong with having a darker skinned human being running the country as long as he does a good job and actually cares about what is happening in the lives of his people. people are way too racist and just need to chill out a little bit. main story: people dont like him because hes darker. though, in my strong strong opinion, it shouldnt matter anyways, in anything.

People are passionate about their beliefs. I have an acquaintance that cannot go into her best friends house because she is a republican. She has to wait outside while her girlfriend joins her for a girls night out. Her friend is married to a close supporter of Obama and is seriously controlling. Not as bad as the Talibani, but very controlling.

I have a friend who is the same way. We haven’t lost our friendship “yet”, but she’s been such a smart a** the past few days.
All I get from people who hate Obama is.
- I heard he was the anti christ by an email someone sent me. Saying the book of revelation describes the anti christ as a man in his 40s of muslim descent, and blah blah blah. This has been proven wrong : http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/antichrist.asp
- He is a democrat and die hard republicans hate all democrats.
- He’s simply black (actually he’s white as much as he is black), and they can’t “see a black guy running this country”.
Just know this, if someone would end a friendship with you over the person you voted for, they aren’t worth being your friend anyways.

That is ridiculous, but this is why I rarely tell my friends or family who I’ve voted for, unless I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they supported the same candidate. People do feel very strongly about Obama in general. Either they really, truly believe in him or their dislike of him is vehement. All that I can say is over 50% of the country likes him, and apparently people all over the world are cheering us right now. Your friend needs to suck it up and get with the program.

He makes up stories, like the one about his uncle (who’s not real). And Joe Biden is just crazy. He told a story about how when the stock market crashed in 1929, President Franklin D. Roosevelt was immediately on TV addressing the people. Roosevelt wasn’t president in 1929, and TV wasn’t invented in 1929.

People dislike him for different reasons. Some will disagree with him politically, good people. Some will disagree with him racially, bad people.
I hope your friend is not the latter but if she feels so strongly about it, that she is willing to lose you as a friend, she probably is racist. I mean, who cares THAT strongly about politics.
If it is a political problem, I’m sure she is just bitter and will come round. Her political problem most probably stems from ignorance.
